Jordan

Subjectively speaking, to us, Jordan Marzuki is the pure definition of cool geek. He is a european educated/trained designer/videographer, and a fashion educator. This time we visited his workplace in the southern part of Jakarta. Filled with collectibles, artworks, and games. In the Indonesian's creative scene, Jordan is infamous. Through his outstanding works under the creative flags The Balletcats & Jordan, jordan Édition, he is known as an extremely creative person. However, little who know or have seen the other side of him: that is being a geek.

Visiting his "mancave" was very entertaining. We got the pleasure chatting, discussing, and play on his gaming consoles. His room was filled with many things; books, artworks, figures, and many games. His gaming collections include Sega Saturn, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Playstations, and Nintento Switch. Thanks Jordan for the opportunity, and for the readers, enjoy!

The main thing that captivated us the most was the small area underneath the upper part of the room (his private area, which we did not dare to ask to peek). The area was very snuggy; equipped with games & gaming consoles within our arm reach. We could sit for hours hitting the retro games, or just discussing about things.

The Darius Cozmic Collection. We have known Jordan for quite sometimes now, and we recently were involved in a same work project. During the project time we discussed this cool shumps game: Darius. It's weird that eventhough we discuss games alot, we always came back to retro games. So first thing first: Darius Cozmic Collection.

Golden Axe: The Duel on Sega Saturn. We were big fans of Golden Axe, we played the game back-to-back, but only on that day we learnt that Golden Axe has a fighting game, and it's really good.

There any things we found really interesting inside Jordan's cave. Our number one favorite item if had to pick was Jordan's Namco Arcade Stick (see below images #15 & #16). The reason behind was because we're currently having fun with many shmups games, especially the retro ones. Additionally, there's a tutorial on how to upgrade that Namco stick to be compatible for Nintendo Switch & PC. Our second favorite thing was Jordan's sofa (see image #22 below). Stunningly comfortable, and we were quite surprised that the sofa was made locally. Too good.

"I always decorate my mancave according to my personal interest-not driven by references or other people; and also to pay attentions to the function"
-Jordan Marzuki (translated)

In conclusion, after spending few hours at Jordan's place, we learnt that there were several important things/thoughts that were essential to turn his mancave into a great one. You will need to have a comfortable spot where you can just sit and chat for hours, like Jordan's gaming spot, underneath his bed. The second one, we need to have a lot things to keep yourself entertained, i.e. games and books. The third one, you will need a sense of good lighting. Not only natural lights during the day, but also additionals lightings to keep the room warm and cozy at night. Lastly, it is extremely important to keep your mancave tidy, so you will always know where to find stuff.
